At Ashdon Primary School, we nurture every child's unique potential within our close-knit village community. With a smaller number of pupils, we know each child deeply – understanding their starting points, celebrating their progress, and tailoring our provision to help them flourish.

Our vision is to provide an ambitious, enriching education where learning is an exciting journey of discovery, and every individual is valued, challenged, and supported to achieve their personal best.

Everything we do is underpinned by our three core values.

Challenge – We hold high expectations for every child. Our curriculum is ambitious and deliberately stretches each pupil from their own starting point, so that children learn to attempt hard things and take pride in doing so.

Care – We create a nurturing environment where strong relationships enable personalised learning. Every child is known, valued, and supported by staff who understand their unique needs and circumstances.

Celebrate – We recognise and honour every step of progress. We celebrate individual achievement, personal growth, and success in all its forms – because in a small school, we see and value each child's journey.

These values are not simply words on a wall. Children hear them in lessons, in assemblies, and in the way adults speak to them every day.

Our 4 R's

The 4Rs: Our Class Rules

Our 4Rs give every child a simple, shared language for how we behave and learn together. They are the same in every class, from Reception to Year 6, so that children carry them right through their time at Ashdon – in lessons, on the playground, at lunchtime, and on trips.

Respectful – We speak and listen kindly. We look after our school, our equipment, and each other's belongings. We accept that people are different from us, and we treat everyone fairly.

Responsible – We take ownership of our choices and our learning. We move and play safely, use equipment properly, and think about how our actions affect other people. We do the right thing even when nobody is watching, we own our mistakes, and we put things right.

Resilient – We keep going when work is hard. We understand that struggling is part of learning, we try again after we get something wrong, and we ask for help when we need it.

Ready – We arrive on time and prepared. We listen carefully, follow instructions first time, and are ready to learn from the moment the lesson begins.

Children are recognised for demonstrating the 4Rs through house points for Elm, Oak, and Ash, awarded and announced in our Friday Celebration Assembly. Our full behaviour policy sets out how the 4Rs are taught, reinforced, and supported.
