Parent Workshops

Throughout the year we run short workshops for parents and carers on the things we are most often asked about — how we teach reading and phonics, how we teach maths, what the national tests involve, and how to support your child at home without it becoming a battle.

The workshops are deliberately short and practical. You will leave knowing what your child is being taught, the methods and vocabulary we use in school, and a few simple things you can do at home that make a genuine difference.

Workshop dates are advertised in the newsletter and on the school calendar, and we always try to offer sessions at a time that suits working families. If a date does not work for you, please tell the school office — if enough people say the same thing, we will move it.

Can’t make it in person?

We know that not every family can get to school in the middle of a working day. We are recording our workshops so that you can watch them at a time that suits you, as many times as you like.

Recordings will appear on this page shortly.

Please check back at the start of each term, or contact the school office if there is a particular workshop you would like to catch up on.

Workshop videos coming soon — please check back at the start of next term.

Is there something you would like a workshop on?

If there is a topic you would find useful — online safety, supporting a child with additional needs, managing behaviour at home, or understanding your child’s reading level — please let us know. We plan our workshop programme around what parents actually ask for.

Please contact the school office at admin@ashdon.essex.sch.uk or telephone 01799 584219.
